Alone Time Room | Autism PDD

OK you guys, today I have gutted out my favorite hallway walk in closet and converted it into Gage's alone time room. It is a special room just for him, since he shares a room with his sister. He can use the closet to play by himself, and to signal to his sister that he needs some alone time. He will also be using it to get dressed, so I have put in a clothes hamper for his dirt laundry. He is at an age where he should not be getting undressed in front of his sister. I will try to take pictures later. He really likes it. The only problem now is that his sister is having a hard time with it because she just pesters him all day long. He has told her very nicely that he needs alone time. She knows she has to knock on the door, but it will take probably at least a week or more of disciplining her not to go barge in there when he needs to be alone. She also tries to barge in on him in the bathtub and stuff, just constantly pesters him. I am going to get him a bean bag chair to put in his alone time room for Christmas too. I also want to get her a dressing "screen" so that she feels like she has a place of her own to get dressed. We have over 1100 square feet of apartment but it is a 2 bedroom and the living room area is quite small, and it can be hard for them not to have their own personal spaces.GREAT IDEA!!!! That is awesome!....A few years back I rented a condo for a mini vacation that had this really neat reading closet...I was small but had a couch a light and lots of blankets and pillows in it. I loved it!
